Photography in the Backcountry of British Columbia

Photography in the Backcountry of British Columbia

Based in the city of Terrace, Red Bike Media specializes in photography, video and drone production in the backcountry of Northwest British Columbia.

Our location in the Skeena Valley means we experience some of the most reliable snowpacks and a wide variety of terrain. Aaron works closely with Northern Escape Heli Skiing, which is easily accessible from Vancouver via Terrace Airport, and was voted the world’s best heli-ski operator. We are also easily accessible through the Northwest Regional Airport, which has connections to Prince George, Smithers and Vancouver.

South of Terrace you will find the community of Kitimat, known for its incredible access to ocean and freshwater fishing including salmon fishing, sportfishing, fly fishing and deep water fishing. With its untouched forests, alpine meadows, and towering peaks, this Canadian backcountry is a paradise for outdoor enthusiasts and photographers alike. Kitimat boasts a mountain bike park and brewery for apres ski, after a great day of fishing or hiking in the region.

The nearby Nass Valley is a hidden gem. Located to the north of Terrace, this pristine valley is home to ancient forests and the awe-inspiring lava beds of the Nisga'a Memorial Lava Bed Provincial Park and is home to the four Nisga’a Villages of Gingolx, Gitwinksihlkw, Gitlaxdamix and Laxgalts’ap. The Nass Valley is home to natural hot springs, mountain biking trails, fishing on the Tseax River, totem poles, suspension bridges and a rich Nisga’a culture.

Shames Mountain is Terrace’s closest ski hill with easy and accessible access to the backcountry for deep powder, snowboarding, skiing and backcountry skiing and backcountry snowboarding and other adventure sport photography activities.

Other provincial parks and nature areas nearby include Kalum River, Lakelse Lake Provincial Park, Lakelse River Recreation Site, Hai Lake Mount Herman Provincial Park, Kitsumkalum Provincial Park, Kitselas Canyon National Historic Site, Upper Kitmat River Recreation Site, Seven Sisters Provincial Park and Protected Area, and Clearwater Lake.
